Welgemoed sits on the northern slopes above Bellville, one of the Cape's established view suburbs — big stands, mature oak gardens and manor-style homes built with picture windows to make the most of the outlook toward Table Mountain and the Boland peaks.

That outlook is also the specification problem. The same glass that frames the view invites the low, direct sun of a Cape summer afternoon, and the same elevation that clears the rooftops below catches more wind than the streets down the hill. Every window priced on its own and every option itemised — the invoice holds nothing you have not already seen. A rough shape for the budget beforehand: everything fitted here falls between R1,000 and R7,500 per square metre installed, a manual interior blind at the bottom of that spread and a motorised awning at the top. Small windows carry a minimum charge, and the real per-window figure arrives with the quote.

Welgemoed Blinds measures, makes and fits window shading on the Tygerberg slopes and the suburbs below them — Welgemoed itself, Durbanville, the Durbanville Hills estates, Kanonberg and Plattekloof. Roller blinds, venetians, cellular blinds and folding-arm awnings are each built for one opening in one house. That matters more here than most places: the deep reveals of the established homes and the shallow plaster returns of the new builds take a blind in completely different ways.

There is one route through a job. The first move is yours, by form or by chat. After that one of our expert consultants will contact you shortly and a free in-home measure goes in the diary. On site every window is measured with a tape rather than estimated from a photograph, recess depth and handles and stays are checked, and fabric, openness and control are chosen against how each room actually catches the sun. A written quote follows, itemised per window. Approve it and everything is manufactured to those sizes and fitted, then demonstrated before the team leaves.

Will exterior shading suit our estate or body-corporate guidelines?

Many Welgemoed properties and the estates nearby carry aesthetic or body-corporate guidelines on external colours and profiles. We confirm your scheme before quoting anything exterior, and can supply the product documentation an aesthetics committee typically asks for.

What actually stops the afternoon glare on a big view window?

In order of effect: external venetians or roller shutters stop the heat at the glass itself, sunscreen roller blinds inside cut glare and load while keeping the view, and automation makes it happen on schedule whether you're home or not.

Is motorisation worth it, or a gimmick?

On a reachable standard window, it's a comfort upgrade. On Welgemoed's wide sliding doors, high glass and multi-blind walls, it's the difference between blinds you actually use and blinds you don't. Wind-sensored awnings are genuine storm protection for an elevated stand.

What does the quote cost?

Nothing. The measure, the fabric and finish samples, the consultation and the written per-window quote are all free, with no obligation to proceed.

Are your blinds safe for small children?

Chain and cord tensioners are fitted as standard on everything corded, and we'll steer nurseries and kids' rooms toward wand, cordless or motorised options with nothing dangling to reach.

Do you cover Welgemoed's older recesses and non-standard openings?

Yes. Inside-mount blinds sit tailored and minimal but need enough recess depth; where a recess is shallow or non-standard, outside mount usually gives better coverage and can make the window feel larger. We check this on-site, not from a phone call.
